May you have all the Blessings of a wonderful season of Christmas as we celebrate again the wonder of the Christ child's birth.

Jesus' Birthday Cake!
A BIRTHDAY CAKE FOR JESUS
We started this tradition in our family many years ago. Now, I don't make the cake, but our daughter does. Tomorrow we will take it to our friend's to celebrate the joy of Christmas.
1. Make it round --- like the never-ending circle, so is His love for all of us.
2.Make it chocolate --- like the darkness our sins brings to us and others.
3.Make it covered with white frosting --- like His purity covering our weakness.
4.Top it with a yellow star and put an angel --- bearer of the first glad tidings.
5.Put twelve red candles on top --- like the twelve months of the year that Christ is our light, add red for the blood He willingly shed for us.
6.Encircle this loving cake with evergreens ---the symbol of everlasting life.
“And she gave birth to her first – born son; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger because there was no room for them in the inn. And in the same region there were some shepherds staying out in the fields, and keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were terribly frightened. And the angel said to them, Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of a great joy which shall be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”
Luke 2: 7-11

New Job
I have a new job at church. I am the Director of Stewardship. I officially begin on January 7, which is also when my replacement comes on board as well. I have some major chnages to make in the parish; including: ministry involvment; increasing people's participation in the parish; teach people what stewardship is; transform our current newsletter into something spiritual, uplifting, and meaningful; and of course, make sure we have someone serving donuts the first SUnday of each month.
So, am I still a catechist or not? And how much will I miss the children?
This is a big change for me professionally because for the first time since gratuading college I will not be directly involved with education in some way. New year coming, new challenges with it!

Sing-a-Long
So, tonight is the event of the season at our parish. The annual Christmas sing-a-long. Different groups lead us in carols, some better than others. But, the minute the staff gets up and the pastor begins, everyone laughs. The strange thing is he has a nice voice and we don't sound half bad.
This year we are ringing bells, but I was not a practice. I hope we do well. Stay tuned.

Bread
I made 100% whole wheat bread on Sunday. It turned out just as wonderful as I remembered. Very simple, especially if you have a stand mixer with a dough hook!
2 1/2 cups warm water
2 tablespoons brown sugar or honey
2 packages yeast
6 cups whole wheat flour
Dissolve sugar in water, add yeast.
When it bubbles, add 2 cups of flour, then slowly add 3 more cups, as it comes together. Add the last cup if needed. Place in bowl, cover and let rise in a warm spot for 2 hours or so until doubled. Punch down, shape and place into 2 large loaf pans, cover and let rise 1 hour. Bake at 350 for 1 hour.

Advent
To recall Advent I have changed my colors to purple on the blog and on my PDA. I know, a bit much, but hey, it makes me happy!
Ignatian Exercises
I am currently working through the exercises with a very good friend. Our next section deals with contemplating the passion of Jesus. The site below has the exercises on-line and different ways to go through them. It is a wonderful way to pray and learn what God's will is for your life.

Back
Did you miss me? Well, I missed writing and looking around at other blogs, so here I am again.
Almost one month, what has happened? In no particular order: took of care of my friend's children while she was in Houston getting her treatment plan for ovarian cancer, cooked Thanksgiving dinner for 15 people, went to Orlando, bought Christmas presents, got a new job, interviewed and found a replacement for my old job, moved my daughter from one bedroom to another, set up office/sewing/reading room, found lost savings bonds, read many books, started one paper, crocheted two scarves for my nieces, met my son's girlfriend, had a biopsy which came back negative, and a few more things not really too important.
