"So, because you are lukewarm, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth." Revelation 3:16.

Recipe Request
A very nice couple who are friends of mine are in the process of adopting a child from South America. They want to put together a cookbook to help raise money to fund the adoption. If you have any recipes to share, please post them or send me links so I can forward them to Jennifer.
Scripture
"If you are patient when you suffer for doing what is good,
this is a grace before God."
1 Peter 20b
Last Sunday my husband though of me as he heard these words of the second reading proclaimed. I know sometimes I feel as if I am suffering, but I also do not know how much patience I actually have about anything. I know I need more patience, I keep thinking that if I approach Jesus with humility I will have the patience I need in my life.
this is a grace before God."

That Catholic Show - Sit, Stand, and Kneel
This is great. Educational, but not at all stuffy. I think all ages would enjoy this.

Romans 15:5-6
May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to think in harmony with one another, in keeping with Christ Jesus, that with one accord you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
What words of wisdom scripture has for us in our marriages, in our family, in our work, and in our parishes. If we all sought, to be in harmony with each other so that we could glorify God, instead of ourselves, what would the worlds in which we live look like?

On the Road
to Emmaus, that is. When I heard the words,"Was it not necessary that Christ should suffer these things and enter into his glory?," I realized that if Christ has to suffer, who are we to think we shouldn't?
Decisions
Our daughter is trying to decide on a major. She entered with over 18 credits, so now she is almost a junior, though she is just finishing her first year. She eventually wants to be an oral surgeon, but her advisor says she needs to have a back-up plan in case she doesn't get into dental school. Thankfully she has until fall to decide, so we can talk when she comes home for summer. She is going on a retreat this weekend, so maybe she'll get some clarity. In high school she was at the top of her class, but in college, everyone who attends came from the same top of the class in their own high school! I think she didn't really expect such competition. I keep praying for her and encouraging her. Sometimes I wish she was 5 again!

Moisturizer Question
Me: I need some more moisturizer, please order for me when you get our vitamins and herbs.
Husband: Okay, but how do you know moisturizer is working?
Me: Good question, I guess we'll know in a few years if I don't have so many wrinkles.
But, now, really, how do we know moisturizer is working? Or is it some cruel hoax perpetrated on unsuspecting women to make them part with money in the quest to retain a youthful face?
I suppose you could only use it on half your face and see what happens. Of course, if it works you're going to look awfully strange; if it doesn't, you'll stop wasting your money.
For now, I am using it, it does make my face feel nice when I put it on, so that's something. Personally, I think the bast way for a face to look good is to be happy.

Dream
Mu husband had a dream that I stopped recycling. Hmm, wishful thinking on his part maybe, but not going to happen in real life. My dream is that I get everyone in the office to recycle the numerous catalogs we get everyday in the mail. I did convince them to recycle the missals we replace every 3 or 4 months and our weekly music sheets. My next goal is to get permanent books that we don't replace. One priest thinks people will steal them from the church. Would they?
Stewardship
So, I have had this new position as Director of Stewardship for three months now. I have formed a committee, convinced the staff to read the Bishop's pastoral letter on stewardship, and planned the golf tournament. In addition to finishing up with our RCIA group.
Here is what I find interesting. When the staff reads the letter, many wind up in the place where the focus on on people giving us more money in some fashion or another. When the committee read the letter, their overriding response was that the Bishop's were trying to convey the idea of discipleship and stewardship is a response to that. I much prefer the committee's response. Our possible theme for the upcoming year is "Come, follow Me" which speaks more to following Jesus than emptying your pocket.
It is energizing to be with the stewardship group and see their love and commitment to our faith. Now we have to get the staff on board. Adoration is my most likely course of action!
