Away, Going Away!

We are off for a fun time to see family, friends, and attend a wedding. Just me and the husband, no children. They have to work.
Ponder this though, until I return:

"The joy of the Kingdom belong to those to whom it has been given to inhale the truth about themselves." John C. Haughey

Extraordinary Rite

Why do so many Catholic Moms who blog want a return to the Latin Mass? Many moms seem to be about my age or younger, so did not, most likely, grow up with it. What is the attraction? Is it that much better and why?

Pentecost

What a wonderful day! Two special occasions on one day, Pentecost and Mother's Day. I was waiting with breath held at Mass this morning to see if our deacon was going to preach on moms or Pentecost. He actually tied them together briefly but his main focus was on Pentecost, as it should have been. He tied it to moms by saying that mothers often have to push their children to get moving, so to with the Holy Spirit. He also told an old joke about the man who would not go to Sunday Mass because he didn't like the people and the people didn't like him. His mother said he had to go because he was the pastor and she said so. Huge paraphrase, jokes are not my thing.
I hope we are all filled anew with the Holy Spirit!

The Great Commission

"All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you until the end of the age." Matthew 28:18-20

Jesus is giving the apostles their mission, their purpose in life. It is also our mission if we believe Him. It comforts me to know that Jesus is with us always. No matter what.

Clapping in Church

This is a most annoying habit we have at our parish, glad someone else shares my sentiments on it!

Pentecost

In honor of Pentecost I am, along with my husband, praying the novena to the Holy Spirit. I am very excited about Pentecost, probably because Easter was such a blur with working and then driving my daughter back to school.
I am also looking for, praying for, and expecting a fresh out pouring of the Holy Spirit. Hence the novena, here is the link; http://www.ewtn.com/Devotionals/pentecost/seven.htm. This is the first novena of the Church, commemorating the Mary and the apostles waiting for the Holy Spirit after Jesus' ascension. Begin today and continue until May 10, the day before Pentecost.
