Today was a very sad day for St. Peter parish. Our beloved Deacon John died this morning. He served at the 4:30 Vigil Mass last night, said his usual jokes to all, and then left church saying,"remember, Jesus loves you and so do I." That was just one of his exit lines.
When you said "good morning" he would often say, "every morning I open my eyes is a good morning for me." Well, today he did open his eyes but soon closed them until he beheld the beatific vision in heaven. He was an awesome man, a husband, father, deacon, friend, spiritual leader and guide. He will be missed and remembered by all as a man who took his call to serve very seriously and truly helped bring Jesus to so many.
May his soul and all the souls of the faithfully departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
